Programme of Events
From April to November each year the club holds a series of monthly evening meetings and monthly workshops on a Saturday. Subject to space, visitors are welcome to join both evening meetings and workshops.
Evening Events take place in the Lounge, Community Centre, Bath St. Stonehaven. Members are free, Visitors £2.50
Tea, Coffee and biscuits served.

Wednesday 14th May – Moira Milne’s creative journey in art and where it lead her “Teaching, Trails and Tails”
Wednesday 11th June – Helen Bruce – “Quick on the Draw” Plein air shorthand sketches to full paintings.
28th June – 6th July – Annual Exhibition
Wednesday 10th September – William Dawson artist and owner of Stonehaven’s newest gallery The Quay
Wednesday 8th October – Tracey Swift – “Washed Ashore” Driftwood art. See what can be made after a walk aong Stonehaven beach.
Wednesday 12th November – David Johnston RSW “By Field Edge and Shoreline” David, a club member and our judge last year, will give a talk on his wonderful watercolours.

Evening Events
We meet on the second Wednesday of April, May, June, September, October and November at the Blue Room in Stonehaven Community Centre, Bath St. Stonehaven, from 7.30pm until 9.30pm when members and visitors can come along and see a demo by a practising artist, or a talk on an art-related topic, with visuals and usually plenty of questions. Tea / coffee is served and visitors are most welcome – £2.50
Art in Company
We continue our casual sketching in company event, held every third Monday evening of the month from 7pm to 9pm in the Lounge for Members only – ground floor at Stonehaven Community Centre. This is an informal event where members are able to come together to create art and have a natter. Tea, Coffee and biscuits provided. Our next meetings are as follows:

Weekend Workshops
- Sat 29th March – Kathryn McFarlane Contemporary Collage
- Sat 26th April – Michael Waight Mokuhanga woodblock printing (additional £15 charge applies for materials – woodblocks/papers/prep) Max 10 members
- Sat 10th May – Kinga Elliot Brilliance in Blue. Using found objects, foliage, UV light, water & chemicals. Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic processes allowing the creation of fabulous blue paintings/prints.
- Sat 06th September Lorraine Taylor Oils A La Prima in the footsteps of the colourists. A quick expressive oil painting (Landscape or Still Life) starting with an acrylic underpainting.
- Sat 11th Oct – Susie Hunt A Patchwork of Watercolour (Founder of NEOS) and renowned local watercolourist.
- Sat15th November – Chi Zhang Chinese Brush painting. Chi Zhang from Edinburgh, in collaboration with the Confucious Institute, Aberdeen University. (A small materials charge for additional rice paper and ink may be incurred and payable to the tutor)
Location of workshops St James Church Hall, Arbuthnott St, Stonehaven
They run from 10am till 4pm with 1 hour for lunch
Booking must be made through the Events Cordinator. Costs are £35 pp for members, £50 for non-members
Priority is given to members but non members may fill any vacant places.
Annual Exhibition
The highlight of the club calendar is the Annual Exhibition. Next year 2026, we host the clubs 51st Exhibition. This will take place in person at the Upper Town Hall, Stonehaven from June 28th to July 6th. Handing in night will be June 26th. For invited guests only, the preview night will be held on June 27th.
